![]() We also found that WCV was positively correlated with the magnitude of precipitation decline and HFI, indicating that sites of high conservation value for waterbirds encounter higher levels of anthropogenic pressure. Interestingly, areas with high HFI are projected to encounter lower warming but more severe drought. We found that temperature, precipitation, drought, and human footprint index (HFI) increased during earlier decades. Here we assess the vulnerability of Ramsar wetlands of six North African countries (Western Sahara, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt) by asking three questions: (1) what are the recent anthropogenic changes that the wetlands experienced? (2) what are the projected future climatic changes? (3) how wetlands with different conservation priorities and globally threatened species are impacted by anthropogenic pressures? We used climatic data (historical and future projections) from WorldClim 2, drought index (SPEI), and human footprint index (HFI for 20) to estimate anthropogenic pressures, as well as waterbird conservation value (WCV: a metric indicating conservation priority of sites) and the breeding distribution of three threatened waterbird species (Aythya nyroca, Marmaronetta angustirostris, and Oxyura leucocephala) to understand how biodiversity is impacted by anthropogenic pressure. We are proud of our school and will keep it in the forefront of high school education.Climate change and anthropogenic perturbation threaten resilience of wetlands globally, particularly in regions where environmental conditions are already hot and dry, and human impacts are rapidly intensifying and expanding. The Scottish association is carried through in the tartan of the school uniform and the way the school is organised into clans. We uphold his legacy valuing each individual's self-worth and engaging with others in a respectful and considered way. The name MacGregor comes from an early Queensland Governor, Sir William MacGregor, a Scotsman of strong humanitarian principles. Consistently between 95% and 100% Queensland Tertiary Admission Centre applicants receive placement while other students complete vocational traineeships. ![]() Sport: health and fitness mental and physical resilience fellowship and fair play. The curriculum has three key focus areas all underpinned by high standards, aspiration and opportunity:Īcademic: scholarship and enterprise with integrity and altruism.Ĭultural: appreciation, creativity and accomplishment in art, music, dance and drama. An 'Honours' program provides accelerated learning for exceptional students. Our teachers are unrelenting in their pursuit of excellence insisting that everyone can make progress in learning. This gives us the advantage of being able to attune the delivery of a world class standard of scholarship to more closely match each student's aptitude. Our 'independence' gives us more latitude in curriculum offerings, staffing configuration and funding disbursement which is done in consultation with parents, students and staff. MacGregor is an Independent Public School. This school community draws on its members’ diverse backgrounds, experience and talent to forge success. Today it is a thriving campus of over 1400 students and 180 staff. MacGregor State High School opened in 1969 with just 203 students and nine teachers.
